Placement means everything!
Placing furniture correctly means everything to a room. Drawing the eye to the focal points tells the rooms’ story and gives it all a chance to fall into place. Many times my clients have the major pieces of furniture needed for a room but has been placed wrong in the room, for instance, sofas and chairs up against the walls and rug placement not centered correctly. By pulling furniture away and placing a shallow sofa table behind, we can now place a lamp for reading and give the room depth. The old school thought that furniture is either on or off an entire area rug is not the norm any longer. The spill over of furniture onto floors from an area rug creates interest as well as not boxing your room in. Focal points can be achieved by placing furniture or art at or around your focal point. It’s not as easy as I’m making it sound and sometimes takes a few different ways of placing to achieve your desired look but I promise you it will make all the difference.
